Access Information

Employees and guests of the Max Planck Society may access the Ovid Online Database Server (MPS-specific entry page at: http://ovid.gwdg.de/) by using either a personal login or an institutional login:

  • Personal Login: For full functionality and access from any location worldwide, a valid user ID and password is required. Please use the online application form.
To change your password, see Ovid Online FAQ.
Please note: By using the personal login you will be able to save your search strategies or set up customized "AutoAlerts". For your own benefit and to protect against unauthorized usage, we strongly recommend not to share your user ID and password with others.
  • Institutional Login: This mode of access allows you to enter without a user ID or password, but only if you are currently at an authorized site of the Max Planck Society (IP protection).
Please note: The institutional login will not allow certain user-specific functions such as saving searches over longer periods or setting up "AutoAlerts".

The quality of your search results depends primarily on your knowledge of the databases you have selected. The following collection of links provide more information regarding the contents, coverage and special features of the databases available to users in the Max Planck Society:
Medline
AGRIS
EconLit
PsycInfo
CAB Abstracts
Eric
PSYNDEX
Agricola

(Inspec, BIOSIS Previews, Current Contents and Zoological Record are no longer available under OvidSP. Use Inspec under Web of Knowledge or STNEasy instead. BIOSIS Previews and Zoological Record are still available under Web of Knowledge. For Current Contents, see details.)

In many cases your local librarian will be able to assist you.
